How to brew Rooibos Espresso® on your commercial espresso machine
Make our much-loved red cappuccino® and range of red drinks using our signature ground Rooibos. Made from 100% premium Rooibos tea, specially ground for use in coffee appliances, it brews a strong, full-bodied Rooibos Espresso that forms the base of our signature red drinks.
Our Rooibos Espresso is pre ground and ready to use in espresso machines – It can be made with a regular double filter basket or with our special RCPTM filter basket. For best results we recommend using our RCPTM (Red Crema Plus) basket, designed to slow the pour to improve extraction, to develop a richer flavour and crema.
Brewing guide:
1. Scoop 14g ground rooibos (one level red scoop) into the RCPTM filter basket or a standard double filter basket. No need to tamp
2. Extract a 60ml / 2oz. shot
Dedicating a group head and porta handle to brewing and use our RCPTM filter basket, to ensure best flavour, extraction and crema every time. OR, dedicate a porta handle and rinse your group head when switching between coffee and Rooibos Espresso.
If using a standard double filter basket, manually pre-infuse: stop when the pour starts, wait 10 seconds and then resume expressing.
Using dedicated equipment prevents coffee and tea flavours from mixing and ensures the cleanest taste. Our RCP basket is specially designed for red espresso® Rooibos.
