Each grade of matcha also has its own flavour profile. When choosing matcha for different recipes, consider the intended purpose.

PREMIUM MATCHA – launching soon
Premium grade matcha is a high quality matcha with a rich green colour. It can be enjoyed on its own, or used to make lattes as its flavor profile mixes well with milk and alternative milks. It is the best value for quality matcha. We will be launching this grade soon.

- Smooth, mild sweetness, good matcha taste
- Colour: Rich green
- Perfect balance of strength and taste. Low bitterness
- Contains much of the nutrients and goodness found in Ceremonial grade matcha but with a stronger matcha taste
- Ideal plain (prepared with water), in lattes and in smoothies. It is not recommended for baking as it can lose its flavour and colour
- Harvest notes: 2nd flush (2nd harvest) of premium leaves, shade grown, stone milled
CULINARY MATCHA
Culinary matcha is green with yellow undertones and is the most affordable grade. It has a strong matcha taste and astringency which makes it perfect for lattes, smoothies, baking and cooking where you want the matcha flavour to pull through.
We offer two grades of Culinary matcha: Exceptional grade and High grade.
Astringent, umami. Strong Matcha
- Strong matcha taste, with good astringency and bitterness.
- Colour: Green with yellow undertone
- The strong taste and astringency make it perfect for baking, cooking, smoothies, lattes etc. where you want the matcha flavour to pull through.
- Best for: smoothies, frappes, cakes, pastries, pies, tarts, soufflés and practically all possible kinds of desserts, beverages and frozen treats
- Colour: Green with yellow undertone
- Harvest notes: 2nd /3rd flush of premium leaves, typically later in the harvest season
- Culinary matcha is ideal in industrial applications such as baking, RTD’s, food preparations as it offers an authentic matcha claim, a strong matcha taste and colour at a cost-effective price.
- The astringency of the matcha allows it to cut through recipes such as rich desserts, milk-based drinks, smoothies, baked goods etc.
MATCHA LATTE MIX
Our Matcha Latte Mix is made from Exceptional grade Japanese Matcha that has been carefully blended with just a hint of organic coconut sugar to give you the sweetness without the high glycaemic index of cane sugar. This creates a taste that is well-balanced and flavourful when added to milk and plant milk and has made our Matcha Latte Mix one of our most popular sellers. You can also add it to your smoothies, juices, breakfast bowls and baking.
